STRENGTH BEYOND Practice

1:1 ONLINE MENTORING

FOR TEACHERS/STUDENTS WHO WANT TO GET CLARITY ON THEIR PRACTICE.

$250

I remember training as hard as I could and not getting better.

I thought the asana practice was about who was willing to train the most, go the hardest, sacrifice the most, etc.

This led me to waste enormous amounts of effort.

Instead of "getting what I put in", I was injured, exhausted and confused.

It took 4 years of this (and teaching this) before I was fed up. "There has to be a better way,"

That experience made me realize that effort wasn’t the only thing that mattered.

It made me obsessed with programming.

A smiling man with shoulder-length hair wearing a black shirt, sitting in front of a white brick wall.

My promise to you is that I constantly put everything I teach to the test.

I believe there's a hierarchy of evidence. Insight can come from many places. The stronger the evidence, the more suggestive power it has.

Personal experience is at the bottom of this hierarchy.

And just above personal experience is "expert opinion." This is where a lot of teachers live. (and stop)

Expert opinion is stronger, in most cases, than personal experience because the sample size is larger.

Above these are scientific literature and published medical studies.

I hold a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, I am a Registered Nurse, authorized level 2 in Ashtanga Yoga teacher.

In order for "the practice" to produce evidence it has to be tested, like any other theory.

The problem with most programs

Every month, yoga teachers/students come to me from popular programs/teachers.

Despite years of effort, they find that their weaknesses aren’t being addressed.

The thing is, having too many priorities is the same as not having any.

You end up getting some of the conditioning adaptations, but very little else.

If you’re missing a tool that you need to compete at the next level - then the fastest way to get that tool is to prioritize it.

Why work with me

  • Signboard outside a building advertising a service called 'Lakshmi Scan' with working hours listed as 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and contact information, along with reflections of trees and parked motorcycles visible through the glass window.

    PROFESSIONAL APPROACH TO YOGA

Professional athletes have sport specific medical care for their injuries. Why should someone with the same dedication to their yoga practice see a general physical therapist without any yoga background, because they take your insurance?

    SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE

Learn to incorporate rehab movement into your practice, based on Qi Gong / Tai Chi principles.

Build strength through muscle memory, and body weight resistance training in the yoga practice.

  • A sign advertising pain oil with text in English and Hindi, showing some wear and tear.

    Injury Specific

Instead of waiting for a doctors visit, a referral, approval from insurance, and then 3 months of disappointing results, giving the pain receptors time to make deeper patterns.
